It may sound like a fairly long drive after a flight, but compared with flying into another Indonesian city and then making your way to Lombok, this is still a relatively simple transfer. And there is another benefit.
You can arrive in Lombok, get picked up by your trekking team, and head toward your accommodation or trekking area without having to figure out several different transportation systems yourself. So, you can start resting earlier.
Why not fly to Jakarta?
Jakarta is Indonesia’s main international gateway, so it may naturally appear when you search for flights to Indonesia. However, Jakarta is located on Java Island, far to the west of Lombok. If your only goal is to hike Mount Rinjani, landing there can create an unnecessary detour.
